Therapy in Inverloch
Sometimes talking is enough. Sometimes it helps to find another way in. I offer Sandplay, expressive therapies and counselling for children, young people, adults, couples and families.
Ways we can work together
Every session is shaped around you. We might talk, build something in the sand tray, draw, write, or slow down and notice what’s happening in your body. Often it’s a mix.
Sandplay therapy
Sandplay uses a tray of sand and a large collection of small figures, like people, animals, trees, houses and symbols. You choose what draws you and arrange it in the tray however feels right.
The scenes you make can hold feelings and experiences that are hard to put into words. There’s no right way to do it, and you don’t need to explain what you’ve made unless you want to.
Expressive therapies
Expressive therapies use creative activities to help you process experience and understand yourself more fully. These can include:
- Drawing and working with images
- Symbols and symbol work
- Creative writing and story-telling
- Body awareness and somatic experiencing
I’ve trained in expressive therapies for children and young people, and in transpersonal and expressive therapies for adults.
Counselling and trauma work
My counselling is person-centred: I trust that you have your own wisdom and a natural pull towards growth. My work is also informed by training in family therapy, EMDR, and the treatment of trauma.
I’ve worked with individuals, couples, families and children for over thirty years.
Common questions
Do I need to be good at art?
Not at all. Expressive therapy isn’t about making something that looks good. It’s about what the process brings up for you. Stick figures are perfectly fine.
Is Sandplay just for children?
No. Children often take to it naturally, but many adults find Sandplay a powerful way to explore things that are hard to talk about directly.
Do I have to choose a type of therapy before I book?
No. You can simply tell me a little about what’s bringing you here, and we’ll work out together what might help.
Where are sessions held?
Therapy sessions are held in person at my practice in Inverloch, on the Bass Coast of Victoria. I’ll share the address when we book your first session.
How much does a session cost?
Ask me when you get in touch, and I’ll talk you through fees and availability before you book.
